  • Bean sprouts 1 bag (approx. 300g)
  • Onion 1/2
  • Green onion 1/2 stalk
  • Cheongyang chili pepper 1
  • Red chili pepper 1

Seasoning Sauce
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 2 Tbsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 2 Tbsp
  • Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
  • Sugar 2 Tbsp
  • Cooking wine (Mirin, etc.) 2 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
  • Black pepper, a pinch
  • Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
  • Toasted sesame seeds, a pinch

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the thinly sliced pork belly. If using refrigerated pork belly, press it firmly with paper towels to remove excess blood, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. (If using frozen pork belly, you can skip the blood removal step).

Step 2

Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under cold running water. Drain them well in a colander, ensuring most of the water is removed for a crisp texture.

Step 3

Prepare the vegetables. Thinly slice the onion, cut the green onion diagonally, and finely chop the Cheongyang and red chili peppers after removing the seeds. Have your minced garlic ready.

Step 4

Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning sauce. In a bowl, combine gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, cooking wine, minced garlic, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

Step 5

Grab a wide, deep pan or pot. Spread the rinsed bean sprouts evenly across the bottom. Arrange the sliced onion, pork belly, and green onions on top of the bean sprouts.

Step 6

Pour the prepared seasoning sauce evenly over all the ingredients in the pan. Generous sauce is key for a delicious outcome!

Step 7

It’s time to stir-fry! Place the pan over medium heat and cover with a lid. Let it cook until the bean sprouts release moisture and you hear a sizzling sound. Once sizzling, remove the lid, and stir-fry everything together, mixing the ingredients and sauce until the bean sprouts are tender and the pork is cooked through.

Step 8

When the pork belly is fully cooked and all ingredients are well combined, add the chopped Cheongyang and red chili peppers. Stir-fry for just another minute to add a fragrant kick. Avoid overcooking the peppers, as this can make them too spicy.

Step 9

Your delicious Pork Belly and Bean Sprout Bulgogi is ready! Serve hot with rice, and don’t forget to stir-fry some rice in the leftover sauce for an extra treat!
