Ingredients
  • 1 small can Spam (approx. 120g)
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1.5 bowls cooked rice
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Haylise powder
  • 180ml water
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 bag mozzarella cheese (approx. 100-150g)
  • A little parsley flakes (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, dice the Spam into small, bite-sized cubes (about 0.5cm). Thinly slice the peeled onion into strips of similar thickness.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the diced Spam, sliced onion, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the Spam is lightly browned and the onions become translucent, allowing the Spam’s savory flavor to release.

Step 3

Once the Spam and onions are starting to look golden brown, pour in 2 tablespoons of Haylise powder and 180ml of water. Whisk everything together well. Add a pinch of black pepper for an extra layer of aroma.

Step 4

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the ingredients are well combined and the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Be careful not to let it stick to the bottom of the pan.

Step 5

Divide 1.5 bowls of warm cooked rice into serving bowls. Carefully crack one egg onto the center of the rice in each bowl. (Alternatively, you can top with a fried or poached egg).

Step 6

Generously spoon the warm Haylise mixture over the rice and egg in each bowl. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese over the top. Finish with a light dusting of parsley flakes for a beautiful presentation.

Step 7

Place the assembled rice bowls in the microwave. Heat for approximately 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes, or until the mozzarella cheese is fully melted and bubbly. (Adjust cooking time based on your microwave’s wattage). Serve immediately while hot and cheesy!
