It’s a delightful everyday dish that’s easy to prepare and enjoy.
Ingredients
- 500g Potato Ongsimi (potato dumplings)
- 2 packs Hanal Broth (or 2 cups pre-made stock)
- 3 Tbsp Janchi Guksu Soup Mix (or adjust seasoning with soy sauce/salt)
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- Shredded seaweed to taste
- Toasted sesame seeds to taste
- 1.2L Water
- 1 stalk Green onion, finely chopped
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a pot, add 1.2L of water and 2 packs of ‘Hanal Broth’ (or 2 cups of pre-made stock). Stir in 3 tablespoons of ‘Janchi Guksu Soup Mix’. This mix is already seasoned, so we’ll minimize additional seasoning. If you don’t have the soup mix, adjust the saltiness with soy sauce or salt to your preference.
Step 2
Once the broth comes to a rolling boil, add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic. Wait for it to bubble up again. This step helps the garlic flavor infuse into the soup.
Step 3
When the broth is boiling, add the 500g of potato ongsimi and the chopped green onion. Start by boiling over high heat. Once the ongsimi floats and the soup returns to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer gently until the ongsimi is cooked through. Be careful not to overcook them until they become mushy.
Step 4
Once the ongsimi is cooked to your liking, gently pour in 1 beaten egg in a circular motion using a ladle. As the egg begins to set, sprinkle in a pinch of black pepper and stir gently. Your potato ongsimi soup is now complete.
Step 5
Ladle the completed potato ongsimi soup into serving bowls, making it look appealing.
Step 6
Finally, garnish with a sprinkle of shredded seaweed and toasted sesame seeds for both visual appeal and enhanced flavor. This simple recipe allows you to create a delightful weekend specialty. The mild and comforting broth is especially soothing and warming on cold days. Feel free to add a pinch of chili powder for a little kick, or a drizzle of sesame oil for extra richness, according to your preference.
