Sandwich Ingredients
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 handfuls of shredded cabbage (about 100g)
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • 1-2 slices of processed ham
  • 2 thin slices of tomato
  • A small amount of fresh spinach (or other leafy greens like chicory or lettuce)
  • 1-2 Tbsp Dijon mustard

Cabbage Sauce (Dressing)
  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare two slices of bread for your sandwich. On one slice, layer the cheddar cheese and ham slices. Prepare the other slice of bread. Now, place both slices of bread in a toaster and toast until golden brown. The bread will be warm and the cheese will be slightly melted, making it even more delicious.

Step 2

Toast the bread in the toaster for about 4 minutes. The bread will become nicely crisp, enhancing the sandwich’s texture. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning!

Step 3

Once the bread is toasted, spread the prepared cabbage sauce (dressing) evenly on one slice. Generously pile the shredded cabbage on top. The crunchy cabbage will add freshness to your sandwich. Arrange the thin tomato slices and fresh spinach (or your chosen leafy greens) attractively over the cabbage. Sprinkle a little salt on the tomatoes for extra flavor.

Step 4

On the inside of the other slice of bread, spread 1-2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard. The tangy kick of the mustard will add depth and richness to the sandwich’s overall flavor profile.

Step 5

Now, place the bread with the mustard spread on top of the bread layered with cabbage and vegetables. Gently press down to secure the sandwich, then wrap it tightly with parchment paper or plastic wrap. Wrapping it firmly makes it neat and easy to handle when you’re ready to eat.

Step 6

Cut the firmly wrapped sandwich in half for easy eating. Your digestible and delicious cabbage sandwich is now complete! Enjoy the wonderful combination of crunchy cabbage, soft bread, and fresh vegetables.
