Key Ingredients
- Dried shredded squid 100g
- Frying powder 100g
- Water 100ml
- Cooking oil 250ml (for frying)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the dried shredded squid. Soak it lightly in cold water for about 5-10 minutes. This will soften the squid, making it chewier and more tender after frying.
Step 2
Drain the soaked dried shredded squid using a sieve. You can also gently squeeze out the excess water with your hands. Be careful not to squeeze too hard, as this might break the squid.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the frying powder (100g) and cold water (100ml). Mix well with chopsticks or a whisk to create a batter. Adjust the consistency if needed; the batter should not be too thick or too thin. A few small lumps are acceptable.
Step 4
Add the drained dried shredded squid to the batter and toss gently until each piece is evenly coated. Proper coating is essential for achieving a crispy texture.
Step 5
Heat about 250ml of cooking oil in a frying pan or wok over medium heat. Once the oil reaches around 170-180°C (340-355°F), carefully add the battered squid pieces, one by one. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent burning. Adjust the heat as needed.
