Salad Ingredients
  • 2 Golden Oranges
  • 1 Tomato (or 1 regular tomato)
  • 3 slices Pineapple
  • 1 pack Mixed Salad Greens (approx. 50-70g)
  • 1/2 Red Onion
  • 1/4 Broccoli

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the fruits and vegetables. Peel the golden oranges and cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 segments each. Cut the pineapple slices into similar sizes as the oranges. Divide the broccoli into small florets, blanch them in boiling water for a minute, then shock in ice water and drain well. Cut the blanched broccoli into pieces roughly the same size as the orange segments. Prepping them now will make assembling the salad much easier.

Step 2

Add the prepared oranges, pineapple, and blanched broccoli to a large bowl. Empty the entire pack of mixed salad greens into the bowl. If the leaves are too large, tear them into smaller, manageable pieces with your hands. If using cherry tomatoes, halve them. If using a regular tomato, dice it into cubes similar in size to the orange segments and add them to the bowl. This adds beautiful color and a burst of fresh flavor.

Step 3

Next, we’ll add the red onion for that crisp texture and mild pungent kick. Thinly slice the red onion, then soak it in cold water for about 10 minutes to mellow its sharpness. Drain it thoroughly, squeezing out excess water. Cut the thinly sliced onion into roughly thirds to ensure it distributes evenly throughout the salad.

Step 4

Now it’s time to make the delicious dressing and season our salad! In a large bowl, pour in a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper for the basic flavor. Add a good pinch of dried herbs for aromatic notes, and a splash of fresh lemon juice for a bright, zesty finish. You can add a touch of honey for sweetness if you like. For an extra layer of sophistication, drizzle in 1 teaspoon of truffle oil – it adds a wonderfully complex and luxurious aroma to the salad.

Step 5

Using two large spoons or salad tongs, gently toss all the ingredients together to coat them evenly with the dressing. Be careful not to mash the fruits. Mix everything until the colorful fruits and vegetables are well combined. Your vibrant fruit salad, with its delightful balance of sweet, tangy, and savory notes, is now ready!

Step 6

Transfer the finished fruit salad to a festive Christmas-themed serving dish, piling it high so the vibrant colors are beautifully showcased. The combination of fresh tomatoes, sweet and tangy oranges, juicy pineapple, and crisp greens creates a visually stunning and incredibly healthy dish that’s perfect for any holiday occasion. Enjoy a wonderful mealtime with your loved ones!
