Hamburger Kimbap Ingredients
- 2 bowls cooked rice
- 2 sheets of kimbap seaweed
- 2 sausages
- 2 eggs
- 6 lettuce leaves
- 2 mini bell peppers
- 1.5 Tbsp cooking wine (for removing odor)
- 1 pinch of salt
Rice Seasoning
- Salt to taste
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- Salt to taste
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, briefly blanch the sausages in boiling water for about 1 minute to remove excess oil. This makes them cleaner and lighter. Drain the blanched sausages and cut them in half lengthwise.
Step 2
Wash the mini bell peppers and remove the seeds. Slice them into pieces similar in size to the cut sausages. Using a variety of colorful bell peppers will make your kimbap look even more appealing.
Step 3
Crack the eggs into a bowl and thoroughly remove the chalazae (the white, stringy bits). Removing the chalazae makes the egg omelet smoother. Whisk the eggs with 1.5 Tbsp of cooking wine and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Step 4
Lightly grease the frying pan for the egg omelet with a very small amount of oil, wiping it with a paper towel to create a thin, even coating. Heat the pan over low heat and pour the beaten egg mixture thinly and evenly. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Be careful not to burn it by using high heat.
Step 5
Let the cooked egg omelet cool slightly. While it’s still a bit warm, slice it into strips with a width similar to the sausages. This helps create a neat appearance.
Step 6
Heat a clean, dry frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced sausages and bell peppers and lightly sauté them, turning gently to avoid burning. This process enhances the natural flavors of the ingredients and makes them tender.
Step 7
To the warm rice, add all the seasoning ingredients: salt, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds. Gently mix with a spatula, being careful not to mash the rice grains, until well combined and seasoned.
Step 8
Cut each sheet of kimbap seaweed in half lengthwise. This will help create kimbap rolls that are a more manageable, bite-sized portion.
Step 9
On the center of the halved seaweed sheet, layer the prepared ingredients: sausage, egg omelet strips, lettuce, bell peppers, and then another sausage. Roll it up tightly, ensuring the fillings don’t fall out. Roll firmly but gently to avoid tearing the seaweed.
Step 10
Now it’s time to add the rice. Spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned rice over a kimbap mat or the remaining half of the seaweed. Avoid using too much rice, as it can cause the kimbap to burst. Place the pre-rolled filling (sausage, egg, veggies) onto the rice and carefully roll the kimbap from one end to the other, pressing gently to form a firm roll.
Step 11
Brush the outside of the finished kimbap roll with a little sesame oil for a glossy finish. Slice the kimbap into bite-sized pieces to complete your delicious Hamburger Kimbap! The burst of sausage, fresh vegetables, and tender egg omelet create a truly fantastic flavor. Enjoy your meal!
