Panna Cotta Base
- 3 sheets of gelatin (or 5g powdered gelatin)
- 200ml milk
- 200ml heavy cream
- 55g sugar
Peach Jelly Topping
- 1 ripe peach
- 40g sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (approx. 15ml)
- 1 ripe peach
- 40g sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (approx. 15ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the gelatin. Soak the 3 sheets of gelatin in cold water for at least 10 minutes until fully softened. This ensures the gelatin dissolves smoothly without clumping later.
Step 2
In a saucepan, combine 200ml milk, 200ml heavy cream, and 55g sugar. Place over medium-low heat and stir gently until the sugar is completely dissolved. Heat until just before it boils, then remove from heat.
Step 3
Once the sugar is dissolved, squeeze out excess water from the softened gelatin and add it to the warm milk mixture. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Return to low heat and simmer for another 5 minutes, being careful not to let it boil vigorously. After simmering, set aside to cool slightly.
Step 4
Prepare your serving cups or bowls. Carefully pour the panna cotta mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into the cups. This step helps remove any undissolved gelatin bits or skin from the milk/cream, resulting in a smoother texture.
Step 5
Now, let the panna cotta set. Cover the cups with plastic wrap or lids and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until firm to the touch.
Step 6
While the panna cotta is setting, let’s make the peach topping. Prepare 1 ripe peach, washed and pitted. In a saucepan, combine the peach, the remaining 40g sugar, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Cook over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes. The peaches should soften slightly and release a sweet syrup. Let this mixture cool.
Step 7
After at least 3 hours, take the set panna cotta out of the refrigerator. Spoon the cooled peach topping over the panna cotta. The combination of fresh peach pieces and syrup adds a refreshing and sweet touch, making it even more delicious. Enjoy your special summer dessert, Peach Panna Cotta!
