Main Ingredients
- 400g Vienna sausages
- 200g Tteokbokki rice cakes
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/3 Carrot
- Pinch of parsley flakes (for garnish)
Seasoning Ingredients
- 5 Tbsp Ketchup
- 3 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 5 Tbsp Ketchup
- 3 Tbsp Cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, dice the onion into approximately 2cm square pieces. Cutting them this way helps maintain a pleasant texture when stir-fried.
Step 2
Thinly slice the carrot to about 0.3cm thickness. Thin slices will ensure they cook tenderly along with the other ingredients.
Step 3
Before blanching the Vienna sausages in boiling water, make 3-4 deep cuts into them. Scoring the sausages allows the sauce to penetrate better and results in a more appealing appearance when cooked.
Step 4
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce! In a bowl, combine 5 Tbsp ketchup, 3 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp soy sauce. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until smooth and well combined. This is a sauce with a golden ratio of flavors!
Step 5
Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a preheated pan over medium heat. Add the tteokbokki rice cakes and stir-fry them. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, cooking until the rice cakes become slightly softened and pliable.
Step 6
Once the rice cakes are partially cooked, add the prepared onion, carrot, and the scored Vienna sausages to the pan. Continue to stir-fry everything together until the vegetables become translucent and the sausages are lightly browned.
Step 7
When the ingredients are cooked through, pour the prepared sweet and spicy sauce into the pan. Stir-fry quickly over high heat to ensure the sauce coats all the ingredients evenly and deliciously. Keep stirring to prevent the sauce from burning.
Step 8
Once all the ingredients are well coated with the sauce and cooked to perfection, sprinkle with parsley flakes for garnish. Your ‘Vienna Sausage Tteokbokki’ is complete! Enjoy this delicious dish that both kids and adults will love.
