  • 1kg Jeju Blue Crab

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare 1kg of fresh Jeju blue crab. Using live crabs will result in a fresher and more flavorful dish.

Step 2

Prepare the crab: Open the top shell and remove the innards and gills. Cut the crab into manageable pieces and rinse thoroughly under cold running water. Drain well. You can trim any sharp points or leg tips with scissors for easier handling.

Step 3

Marinate the crab (Soy Sauce): Drizzle 2 Tbsp of Jin Ganjang (Korean soy sauce) evenly over the prepared crab pieces. Gently toss to coat the crab meat, allowing the soy sauce to penetrate.

Step 4

Marinate the crab (Sweetness): Add 4 Tbsp of Oligodang (Korean corn syrup) to add a glossy sheen and sweetness to the crab meat. You can substitute with rice syrup or honey if desired.

Step 5

Mix Thoroughly: Add 4 Tbsp of Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) and 1 Tbsp of sliced garlic. Gently mix everything together, ensuring all the seasonings are evenly distributed on the crab. Adjust the amount of gochugaru according to your spice preference.

Step 6

Microwave Cooking: Place the seasoned crab in a microwave-safe container. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid, and microwave for approximately 5-7 minutes. Flipping the crab halfway through will help it cook more evenly. (Adjust cooking time based on your microwave’s wattage).
