Ingredients
  • 10 fresh chestnuts
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • A little cinnamon powder

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 10 fresh chestnuts. Place the chestnuts in a pressure cooker and add an appropriate amount of water. Once the whistle starts to blow, reduce the heat to medium-low and steam for another 10 minutes. After turning off the heat, let it steam for an additional 10 minutes to ensure the chestnuts are moist and tender inside.

Step 2

Voilà! You’ll see the perfectly steamed chestnuts. The steam rising from the warm chestnuts carries a sweet aroma, making your mouth water in anticipation.

Step 3

Carefully remove the well-steamed chestnuts and let them cool slightly. Peel the skin and scoop out only the chestnut flesh. Pass this flesh through a fine-mesh sieve to create a smooth chestnut paste. Sieving multiple times will result in an even smoother texture.

Step 4

To the finely sieved chestnut paste, add 1 tablespoon of honey for sweetness and a pinch of salt to balance the flavors. Mix and knead with your hands until the ingredients are well combined and form a cohesive dough. Knead until the chestnut paste and honey are thoroughly integrated.

Step 5

Shape the chestnut dough into bite-sized pieces, forming them into a rounded, slightly flattened shape resembling chestnuts. Gently roll them between your palms to create beautiful Yulran shapes.

Step 6

Finally, lightly dust the shaped Yulran with cinnamon powder to your preference. This adds a subtle cinnamon aroma, enhancing the rich flavor of the Yulran. Enjoy these visually appealing and delicious Yulran with a cup of tea for a relaxing moment.
