Sweet and Fluffy French Toast with Strawberry Jam
How to Make French Toast with Strawberry Jam
Instead of sugar, we’ve used sweet strawberry jam to create a delicious French toast that everyone will love. It’s crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and boasts a delightful sweetness that fills your mouth. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!
Essential Ingredients
- 1-2 slices of thick bread (day-old bread works well!)
- 1 fresh egg
- 5 tablespoons milk (approx. 75ml) for added softness
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil (or butter) for golden browning
- A pinch of salt to balance the flavors
- Strawberry jam to taste for sweetness
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a wide bowl or shallow dish, crack one egg. Add the 5 tablespoons of milk and a pinch of salt. Whisk gently with a fork until everything is smoothly combined, creating a fluffy mixture like soft clouds.
Step 2
Carefully dip the bread slices into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are thoroughly coated. Let each side soak for about 10 seconds to allow the bread to fully absorb the custard. This ensures a wonderfully moist and tender French toast. Be gentle to prevent the bread from breaking.
Step 3
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil (or butter) in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Gently place the egg-soaked bread into the warm pan. Keep the heat low; this slow cooking process is key to achieving a golden-brown exterior without burning and ensuring the inside is cooked through.
Step 4
Once one side of the bread turns a beautiful golden brown and puffs up slightly, carefully flip it over and cook the other side until equally golden. When both sides are perfectly cooked, transfer the French toast to a plate. Serve warm with a generous spread of strawberry jam. For an extra treat, try serving it with fresh fruit or whipped cream!
