Main Ingredients
  • 10 sheets of Gim (roasted seaweed)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • A pinch of Sesame Seeds (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Carefully separate each sheet of gim. Heat a dry non-stick pan over medium-low heat (do not add any oil). Place the gim sheets onto the hot pan and roast them for about 1-2 minutes per side, until they become fragrant and slightly crisp. Be careful not to burn them; roasting them dry removes any fishy smell and enhances their nutty flavor and crispness.

Step 2

Once the gim is roasted and has cooled slightly, gently crumble it into bite-sized pieces using your hands. Aim for pieces that are roughly 1-2 inches in size. Avoid crushing it too finely, as having some texture will give the dish a more pleasant mouthfeel.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce and sesame oil. Add the crumbled gim to the bowl. Sprinkle in the sesame seeds. Gently toss and mix everything together with your hands until the gim is evenly coated with the seasoning. Be gentle to prevent the gim from becoming mushy. This simple yet flavorful Gim Muchim is now ready to be served!
