Ingredients
  • 5 sheets of rice paper
  • Plenty of olive oil (enough for frying)
  • 1/2 packet of ramen soup powder or seasoning powder (adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your rice paper. Cut each sheet of rice paper into approximately 4 equal pieces using scissors. This makes them a more manageable size and ensures they fry up extra crispy.

Step 2

Pour a generous amount of olive oil into a deep wok or pot. Turn the heat to medium. To check if the oil is ready, insert a wooden chopstick into the oil; if small bubbles form around it, reduce the heat to low. This is the perfect temperature for frying the rice paper.

Step 3

Carefully place the cut rice paper pieces into the hot oil. They will puff up almost instantly, so be ready to flip them immediately. Frying is very quick, so keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Step 4

Once puffed and golden brown, gently remove the fried crackers from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels or on a wire rack. This helps drain any excess oil.

Step 5

Now for the fun part – seasoning! Place the fried crackers into a clean plastic bag or an airtight container. Don’t add them all at once; divide them into 2-3 batches. Sprinkle a portion of your chosen seasoning powder (ramen soup or other seasoning) over each batch. Seal the bag tightly and gently shake to evenly coat the crackers. Be careful not to shake too vigorously, or they might break.
