Easy and Quick Potato Gratin Made in a Rice Cooker
You can make this delicious potato gratin without pre-boiling the potatoes! It’s incredibly simple and quick. Enjoy a rich flavor that everyone from kids to adults will love!
Ingredients
- 4 small potatoes (or 2 medium potatoes)
- 3 button mushrooms
- 2 slices of processed cheese
- 50g mozzarella cheese
- 2 pinches of salt
- 3 grinds of black pepper (to taste)
- A little fresh parsley (optional)
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 8 Tbsp heavy cream
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the potatoes for your gratin. You’ll need about 4 small potatoes or 2 medium-sized potatoes for one serving. Peel the potatoes thoroughly.
Step 2
Place all the peeled potatoes into the inner pot of your rice cooker. Using a peeler to remove the skins thinly can be convenient.
Step 3
For any parts the peeler can’t reach, carefully slice them thinly with a knife. Try to cut them to a similar thickness so they cook evenly inside the rice cooker.
Step 4
Thinly slice 3 button mushrooms and sprinkle them evenly over the potatoes. The aromatic flavor of the mushrooms will add a delicious depth to the dish.
Step 5
Tear 2 slices of processed cheese into pieces and distribute them evenly over the potatoes and mushrooms. Season with 2 pinches of salt and about 3 grinds of black pepper. Finally, cut 2 tablespoons of cold butter into small pieces and scatter them all over. Gently mix everything together so the ingredients are well combined.
Step 6
Now, pour the heavy cream. Evenly drizzle about 8 tablespoons of heavy cream over the ingredients. The cream will envelop the potatoes, making them tender and adding a rich, creamy flavor.
Step 7
Prepare about 50g of mozzarella cheese (roughly half of a standard 100g pack). Cut or prepare the mozzarella cheese into bite-sized pieces and arrange it evenly in a radial pattern over the cream.
Step 8
Select the ‘Bake’ or ‘Cake’ function on your rice cooker and cook for 25 minutes. This process will ensure the potatoes are cooked through and tender, while the cheese melts and turns golden brown, creating a perfect gratin.
Step 9
Once the cooking is complete, carefully transfer the gratin from the rice cooker to a serving dish. As it cools slightly in the dish, the top layer of cheese will become wonderfully chewy. If desired, sprinkle a little fresh parsley on top for an appealing look and fresh aroma. Enjoy your delicious potato gratin while it’s warm!
