An Unmissable Pork Belly Dish Anyone Can Make! It Tastes So Much Better This Way. #PorkBellyBeanSproutSteamedDish
We’ve made a super easy pork belly and bean sprout steamed dish that anyone can follow! Just grab some pork belly and bean sprouts from the supermarket!
Ingredients
- 300g thinly sliced pork belly
- 300g fresh bean sprouts (washed thoroughly)
- 5 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp cooking wine (like Mirin)
- 1 soju cup water (approx. 50ml)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, spread the 300g of thoroughly washed bean sprouts evenly on the bottom of a wide pan or steamer. Don’t worry if it looks like a lot; bean sprouts shrink significantly when cooked, so feel free to add more if you like.
Step 2
Next, layer the 300g of thinly sliced pork belly on top of the bean sprouts. Since pork belly is very thin, it cooks quickly, making this dish extra convenient.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. Pour 5 Tbsp of soy sauce and 3 Tbsp of cooking wine around the edges of the pan. Add 1 soju cup of water (about 50ml) and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper to enhance the savory flavor.
Step 4
Cover the pan with a lid and bring it to a boil over high heat. Once the water starts boiling vigorously, reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover again and steam for about 10 minutes. During this process, the fat from the pork belly will render and infuse into the bean sprouts, creating a moist and flavorful dish.
Step 5
After 10 minutes, uncover the pan and taste. If it seems a bit too salty for your liking, you can add about 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to balance the flavors and bring out the overall taste.
Step 6
Finally, just before turning off the heat, drizzle 1 Tbsp of sesame oil all over the dish. The fragrant aroma of sesame oil will complete your delicious pork belly and bean sprout steamed dish! Enjoy it with a warm bowl of rice.
