Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 3 imitation crab sticks (krab meat sticks)
- 1 small piece of onion (approx. 1/4 small onion)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, crack one large egg into a clean bowl. Gently whisk the egg with a fork or a whisk until the yolk and white are well combined. You don’t need to whisk it vigorously; just ensure it’s evenly mixed.
Step 2
Next, prepare the imitation crab sticks. Cut each stick into roughly 1cm (about 0.4 inches) pieces. Cutting them slightly thicker will help maintain a pleasant texture when cooked, preventing them from falling apart too easily.
Step 3
Now, finely mince the onion. Finely dicing the onion will help it integrate smoothly into the batter and contribute to a softer texture in the finished pancake. Add the minced onion and the cut crab sticks to the bowl with the whisked egg. Stir everything together until well combined, creating a batter that’s smooth and consistent.
Step 4
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Spoon the batter onto the hot pan, forming small, round pancakes. Aim for a relatively thin layer to ensure even cooking; this will be similar to making small hotcakes.
Step 5
Cook over medium heat. Once the edges of the pancake start to look golden brown and slightly firm, it’s time to flip. Carefully flip each pancake using a spatula. Cook the other side until it’s also golden brown and cooked through. Both sides should be beautifully browned for a delicious crab stick jeon!
