Ingredients
  • 1 bunch Bok Choy (about 100g)
  • 1/4 Squid (body only is fine)
  • 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Korean Soy Sauce (Guk-ganjang)
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 Red Chilies
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the squid by cleaning it thoroughly and cutting it into bite-sized pieces. Wash the bok choy under running water, trim the ends, and cut into 2-3 segments. Slice the red chilies thinly after removing the seeds for a pop of color.

Step 2

Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a wide pan over medium-low heat. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. This infuses the oil with a lovely garlic aroma.

Step 3

Once the garlic is fragrant, add the prepared squid to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat quickly. Avoid overcooking the squid, as it can become tough. Cook just until the surface turns opaque.

Step 4

Once the squid is partially cooked, add 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce and 1/2 Tbsp of Korean soy sauce to season. Adjust the taste with a pinch of salt if needed. Stir well to ensure the seasoning coats the squid evenly.

Step 5

Now, add the bok choy to the pan for a fresh, crisp texture. Stir-fry quickly, just until the bok choy begins to wilt slightly. Keeping it crisp is key to its deliciousness. Stir for about a minute.

Step 6

Finally, toss in the thinly sliced red chilies for color and flavor, followed by 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for nutty aroma. Give it a final quick stir and turn off the heat. Your delicious Stir-Fried Bok Choy and Squid is ready! It’s perfect as a side dish or a light meal.
