Main Ingredients
  • Rehydrated dried seaweed, 2 handfuls (approx. 100g)
  • Cucumber, 5 slices (approx. 50g)
  • Green bell pepper, 2 slices (approx. 20g)
  • Tofu, 1/3 block (approx. 75g)

Seasoning
  • Soy sauce, 1 Tbsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), 4 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic, 1.5 Tbsp
  • Doenjang (Korean soybean paste), 0.5 Tbsp
  • Pickled chili soy sauce, 3 Tbsp (or regular soy sauce 2 Tbsp + plum extract 1 Tbsp)
  • Sugar, 1 Tbsp
  • Sesame oil, 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the rehydrated seaweed and cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm long. Don’t squeeze out all the water, as this helps the seasoning adhere better.

Step 2

Let’s prepare the delicious seasoning that will make this tofu and seaweed salad shine! In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, gochugaru, minced garlic, doenjang, pickled chili soy sauce (or substitute), and sugar.

Step 3

Whisk the seasoning ingredients together until smooth and well combined. Ensure the doenjang is fully dissolved to create a uniform sauce.

Step 4

Wash the cucumber and green bell pepper, remove the seeds, and julienne them thinly. Add the julienned vegetables to the prepared seasoning. Finally, drizzle in the sesame oil for an extra nutty aroma.

Step 5

Lightly oil a separate pan and pan-fry the tofu until golden brown. Let it cool slightly, then dice it into bite-sized cubes. (Optional: You can crumble the tofu or use it whole.) Gently add the prepared tofu to the seaweed and vegetable mixture. Carefully toss everything together, being mindful not to break the tofu pieces. Use chopsticks or a spatula to mix gently.

Step 6

Mix until all the ingredients are evenly coated with the seasoning. Your delicious Spicy Tofu and Seaweed Salad is ready! Serve beautifully on a plate and enjoy.
