Spicy & Sweet Bibim Jjolmyeon (Korean Spicy Noodle Salad)
Quick & Easy Bibim Jjolmyeon Recipe
Hello! Fueling our strength with good food. As someone who loves noodles, I’m always keen on exploring noodle dishes. This year, jjolmyeon (chewy Korean noodles) in a ramen style seems to be quite popular, so I decided to make Bibim Jjolmyeon. Let’s get started on this simple yet delicious recipe!
Main Ingredients
- Jjolmyeon noodles, 2 servings
- Water, 1200ml
- Cabbage, 1 handful (shredded)
- Carrot, 1/2 handful (shredded)
- Cucumber, 1/2 handful (shredded)
- Hard-boiled egg, 1 (cooked firm)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the ingredients for making 2 servings of Bibim Jjolmyeon. Feel free to enhance your dish with any vegetables you have readily available at home.
Step 2
Prepare your fresh vegetables. Wash the cabbage, carrot, and cucumber thoroughly and slice them into thin shreds. If you have blanched bean sprouts, they will add a delightful crunch. For the eggs, prepare them by boiling until fully cooked. To do this, place the eggs in a pot with enough water to cover them, add a pinch of salt and a few drops of vinegar, and boil for about 15 minutes for a hard-boiled result.
Step 3
Now it’s time to cook the noodles. In a large pot of boiling water (1200ml), add the jjolmyeon noodles and the shredded vegetables. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the noodles are perfectly chewy. Immediately after cooking, rinse the noodles under cold running water to firm them up and drain them well. This step is key to achieving that wonderfully chewy and non-soggy texture.
Step 4
Finally, it’s time to assemble your Bibim Jjolmyeon! Arrange the drained noodles and cooked vegetables attractively in a serving bowl. Top generously with the prepared shredded vegetables (cabbage, carrot, cucumber). Drizzle with your favorite spicy and sweet bibim sauce, and garnish with the halved hard-boiled egg. Your delicious and vibrant Bibim Jjolmyeon is ready to be enjoyed!
