  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients
  • 200g chicken tenderloin
  • 1/2 onion
  • A little bit of carrot
  • 1 potato
  • 1 green onion
  • 1 handful of glass noodles (about 30g)

Braising Sauce
  • 120ml water
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin, etc.)
  • 1 Tbsp corn syrup (oligosaccharide)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the vegetables for the braised chicken. Chop the onion coarsely or into large pieces. Dice the carrot and potato into bite-sized pieces, suitable for children. Slice the green onion diagonally. Pre-chopping the vegetables will help shorten the cooking time.

Step 2

Let’s make the delicious braising sauce! In a bowl, combine 120ml water, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 1 Tbsp corn syrup, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Stir well until the sugar dissolves to complete the sauce. You can adjust the sweetness and saltiness to your preference.

Step 3

Pour the prepared sauce into a deep pan or pot and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Once the sauce starts boiling, we’ll begin adding the ingredients.

Step 4

Chicken tenderloin is wonderfully tender and not as dry as chicken breast, making it perfect for children. Rinse the chicken tenderloin under running water, pat it dry, and cut it into appropriate bite-sized pieces. No need for pre-marinating.

Step 5

Once the sauce is simmering, add the cut chicken tenderloin, potato, and carrot first, as these are the firmer ingredients. Chicken tenderloin cooks quickly, so you can add it directly without pre-boiling or blanching for tender results. Let it simmer over medium heat.

Step 6

When the potatoes and carrots are about half cooked, add the chopped onion and continue to simmer over medium heat, allowing the sauce to penetrate the ingredients. The onion will become translucent and add sweetness.

Step 7

Add the glass noodles, which you should have soaked in cold water before preparing the ingredients, and cook them together. The glass noodles will absorb the delicious sauce. If you haven’t soaked them yet, it’s recommended to soak them in cold water at the beginning of cooking.

Step 8

When all ingredients are cooked and the glass noodles are soft, add the diagonally sliced green onion and simmer for a little longer. The subtle aroma of the green onion will enhance the flavor of the braised chicken.

Step 9

Finally, sprinkle some sesame seeds over the finished braised chicken for a visually appealing dish. Serve it over a bowl of hot, freshly cooked rice for your child, and they’re sure to love it! Make your family’s mealtime special with this delightful braised chicken.
