Main Ingredients
  • 100g ground pork
  • 2 bowls warm cooked rice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, heat a pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, then add the ground pork. Break it up with a spatula and stir-fry until it’s no longer pink and slightly browned. Stir-frying until golden will enhance the nutty flavor of the pork.

Step 2

Once the pork is almost cooked through, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of oligo syrup. Continue to cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the pork nicely. This will glaze the pork and deepen its flavor. Be careful not to burn it, and simmer for about 2-3 more minutes.

Step 3

Turn off the heat. Add the cooked pork mixture to 2 bowls of warm cooked rice along with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Gently mix everything together using a spatula or spoon, ensuring the pork and its sauce are evenly distributed throughout the rice without mashing the grains. This ensures every bite is flavorful.

Step 4

Now, take portions of the rice mixture, about a handful each. Shape them into round balls or flatten them slightly using your palms. It’s easiest to form the balls while the rice is still warm. You can lightly wet your hands or wear plastic gloves to prevent sticking and achieve a neater shape.

Step 5

Arrange the finished rice balls attractively on a plate. Sprinkle a pinch of black sesame seeds over the top for a beautiful garnish. Your delicious pork rice balls are ready! They taste wonderful served warm, or you can let them cool and pack them for a delicious lunch.
