Savory Beef Rice Balls
Easier Than Kimbap! Delicious Beef Rice Balls Recipe
Had leftover grilled beef that felt too good to freeze? No problem! This recipe turns it into simple, delicious beef rice balls, much quicker and tastier than kimbap. Perfect for a satisfying meal or a kid-friendly snack!
Main Ingredients
- 200g grilled beef (finely chopped)
- 2 cups warm cooked rice
- 1/4 zucchini (finely chopped)
- 1/4 bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1/4 carrot (finely chopped)
- 1/3 onion (finely chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, in a bowl, combine the finely chopped beef with cooking wine, minced garlic, sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to marinate. Letting it sit for at least 10 minutes will allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 2
While the beef is marinating, finely chop all your vegetables (zucchini, bell pepper, carrot, onion). Smaller pieces will integrate better into the rice and offer a pleasant texture.
Step 3
Lightly oil a pan and sauté the chopped vegetables over medium-low heat. Cook just until they soften slightly – avoid overcooking, as they can become mushy.
Step 4
Once the vegetables are tender, add the marinated beef to the pan. Break up any clumps of beef as you stir-fry it with the vegetables.
Step 5
Stir-fry the beef and vegetable mixture over medium-high heat until most of the moisture evaporates and the mixture becomes glossy. This cooking method concentrates the flavors and prevents the rice balls from becoming soggy.
Step 6
In a separate bowl, mix the warm rice with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and a pinch of salt. Gently combine using a spatula to ensure the rice grains remain fluffy and not mashed.
Step 7
Now, add the cooked beef and vegetable mixture to the seasoned rice. Crumble the seaweed sheets by hand and mix them in as well – seaweed adds a wonderful umami flavor and texture. Stir everything together thoroughly until well combined.
Step 8
Take portions of the mixed rice and shape them into bite-sized balls using your hands. You can make them child-friendly or customize the size to your preference.
Step 9
And there you have it – delicious beef rice balls with a tempting sheen! Each bite is packed with savory flavor. Enjoy!
Step 10
These rice balls are best enjoyed fresh. They might become a bit loose if left out for too long. While adding a little glutinous rice can make them stickier, this simple version is delicious on its own! Despite their cute appearance, just two or three will leave you feeling quite full. Enjoy your meal!
