Savory Beef Jjajangmyeon
Quick and Easy Beef Jjajangmyeon for a One-Bowl Meal
A delightful Korean-Chinese black bean noodle dish elevated with tender beef. This recipe offers a quick and satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pack Jjajangmyeon noodles
- Beef (for bulgogi or stir-fry) 100g
- 1/2 Onion
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 Tbsp Mirin (rice wine)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the beef and season with a pinch of salt and 1/2 tablespoon of mirin to tenderize and remove any gamey odor. Stir-fry the beef until it’s nicely browned and cooked through. Marinating the beef like this enhances its natural flavors.
Step 2
Peel and dice the onion into bite-sized pieces (about 1cm). Add the diced onion to the pan with the browned beef. Continue to stir-fry until the onions become translucent and tender. The sweetness from the onions will deepen the flavor of the jjajang sauce.
Step 3
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the jjajangmyeon noodles and cook according to the package instructions, typically for 2-3 minutes, until they reach your desired chewy texture. It’s important to get the noodles just right.
Step 4
Drain the cooked noodles, reserving about one ladleful of the noodle cooking water. Transfer the drained noodles to the pan with the stir-fried beef and onions. Add the reserved noodle water to help create a smoother sauce consistency and ensure the sauce coats the noodles well. Sprinkle in the jjajang powder sachet and mix everything together.
Step 5
Finally, stir-fry everything together over low heat until the sauce is well combined and clings to the noodles and beef. This brings your delicious Beef Jjajangmyeon to completion! For an extra kick, you can add a pinch of chili flakes or a touch of sugar to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy this delightful meal!
