Main Ingredients
  • Thinly sliced beef (for Shabu-Shabu) 250g
  • Carrot 1/4 piece
  • Onion 1/2 medium
  • Korean green pepper (Oigochu) 1 piece

Beef Marinade
  • Soy sauce (for Bulgogi marinade) 2.5 Tbsp
  • Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
  • Ginger juice 1 Tbsp
  • Sugar 1 Tbsp
  • Black pepper 1/4 tsp
  • Sesame oil 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the vegetables. Thinly slice half an onion. Cut the Korean green pepper into 1cm pieces diagonally. Slice them thick enough to retain their crispness.

Step 2

Now, let’s marinate the beef. Prepare 250g of thinly sliced beef, the kind used for Shabu-Shabu. In a bowl, combine the beef with the marinade ingredients: 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp ginger juice, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Gently mix and massage the marinade into the beef. Let it marinate for about 5 minutes for the flavors to meld.

Step 3

It’s time to stir-fry! Heat a pan over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry quickly until it’s no longer pink. Once the beef is partially cooked, add the sliced carrots and stir-fry together until the carrots are vibrant in color.

Step 4

When the beef and carrots are about halfway done, add the sliced onion and Korean green pepper. Toss everything together quickly to combine. It’s important to keep the vegetables crisp, so don’t overcook them.

Step 5

Finally, let’s add the seasoning for the stir-fry. Pour in 2 Tbsp of soy sauce intended for the stir-fry and mix well, stir-frying for a short time over high heat to ensure the vegetables remain crunchy and the beef’s flavor is preserved.

Step 6

Turn off the heat. Drizzle in 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a fragrant finish. Your delicious beef and Korean green pepper stir-fry is ready!

Step 7

Now, let’s make the egg fried rice. Heat a pan and add one bowl of cooled cooked rice. Drizzle 2 Tbsp of soy sauce for the fried rice evenly over the rice. Use a spatula to break up any clumps and mix the soy sauce thoroughly into the rice grains, ensuring a fluffy texture.

Step 8

Push the rice to one side of the pan and add a little cooking oil to the empty space. Crack in 2 eggs and cook them, stirring gently to create a soft scrambled egg. We’ll mix this with the rice while it’s still slightly soft.

Step 9

Once the scrambled eggs are ready, combine them with the rice in the pan. Stir-fry over medium heat, mixing thoroughly. The rice grains will become distinct and fluffy, and the eggs will be well incorporated, resulting in a delightful chewy texture.

Step 10

Continue stir-frying, tossing the rice and eggs frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. Fry until the surface of the rice grains becomes lightly golden for an enhanced nutty flavor. Taste and add a tiny bit more soy sauce if needed.

Step 11

Taste the finished fried rice and stir-fry together. Enjoying them side-by-side will make for a more complete and delicious meal.

Step 12

For an extra touch, serve the stir-fry and fried rice on a bed of fresh lettuce. The combination of crisp lettuce, hearty fried rice, and the savory stir-fry is sure to bring a smile to your face!
