Main Ingredients
  • 1 medium potato
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1/2 medium carrot
  • 150g beef (thinly sliced for bulgogi)
  • 100g commercial curry powder (adjust to your preference)
  • A little cooking oil

Seasoning
  • A pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Slice all the vegetables (onion, carrot, potato) and the beef into bite-sized strips. For the potatoes, slice them not too thinly so they hold their shape after cooking.

Step 2

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry them slowly. Once the onions start to turn translucent, increase the heat slightly. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until they turn a rich brown color and release a sweet, caramelized aroma. This step is key to developing a deep flavor in your curry.

Step 3

Add the beef strips to the caramelized onions and cook until they are no longer pink. Then, add the carrots and potatoes. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften slightly. Be careful not to overcook at this stage, as the vegetables can become mushy.

Step 4

Pour in 700ml of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes and carrots are tender. You can test for doneness by inserting a fork – it should slide in easily.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low. Gradually add the curry powder, whisking constantly to dissolve any clumps. Continue to stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the curry thickens to your desired consistency. Add a pinch of black pepper if desired, to enhance the aroma.

Step 6

Serve the delicious curry generously over hot steamed rice! Your wonderful homemade curry, filled with hearty vegetables and tender beef, is now ready to be enjoyed. Enjoy your meal!
