Main Ingredients
- 1 head fresh broccoli
- 12 plump shrimp
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
- A pinch of toasted sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp salt
Stir-Fry Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup (oligosaccharide)
- A few dashes of black pepper
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup (oligosaccharide)
- A few dashes of black pepper
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Break the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Soak them in water with a little vinegar for about 10 minutes to remove any dirt, then rinse thoroughly under running water. This preparation ensures your broccoli is fresh and clean.
Step 2
In a pot, bring water to a boil with 1 Tbsp of salt. Add the washed broccoli and blanch for about 2 minutes. It’s important not to overcook the broccoli; blanching it briefly helps maintain its crisp texture.
Step 3
Immediately drain the blanched broccoli using a colander. Ensure all excess water is removed, as remaining moisture can affect the stir-fry’s flavor. You can gently pat it dry with a paper towel for best results.
Step 4
Rinse the plump shrimp under cold water to clean them. Using fresh, good-quality shrimp will significantly enhance the overall flavor of your dish.
Step 5
Once drained, cut the broccoli into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the 3 cloves of garlic to help release their aroma and flavor into the stir-fry.
Step 6
Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until it turns golden brown and fragrant. Cooking the garlic slowly builds a deeper flavor base.
Step 7
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the shrimp to the pan. Stir-fry until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
Step 8
When the shrimp are cooked, add the blanched broccoli. Stir in 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce for savory depth and 1 Tbsp of corn syrup for a touch of sweetness. Continue to stir-fry, ensuring everything is well combined with the sauce.
Step 9
Finish by adding a few dashes of black pepper for a hint of spice, and drizzle in 0.5 Tbsp of sesame oil for a rich, nutty aroma. Give everything a final quick stir to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
Step 10
Transfer the delicious stir-fried shrimp and broccoli to a serving plate. Sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds for a final touch of flavor and texture. Enjoy your nutritious and tasty meal!
