Korean Snack Bar Style Ramen: Effortlessly Delicious!
Easy Home Ramen Recipe: Perfect for Beginners and Solo Cooking
I was amazed by how perfectly this ramen captured the authentic taste of Korean snack bars! It’s surprisingly simple and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
- 1 packet of ramen (choose your favorite brand)
- 1/2 stalk of green onion (for garnish and flavor)
- 1 egg (optional, adjust to your preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the green onions that will add depth of flavor. Slice the white and green parts of the green onion into manageable pieces, about 0.5 cm thick. Slicing them too thinly can make them mushy, while too thick might require longer cooking.
Step 2
For the egg, gently beat it in a bowl with chopsticks or a whisk until the yolk and white are just combined. This will create a beautiful, soft texture when added to the broth later. Don’t overmix!
Step 3
Now, let’s start cooking the ramen. Pour the amount of water specified on the ramen packet (usually 550ml) into a pot. Add the soup base and the dried vegetable flakes. Adding the seasoning before the water boils helps it dissolve and infuse the flavor better.
Step 4
Reserve about one-third of the sliced green onions for garnish. Add the remaining two-thirds to the boiling water in the pot. Cooking the green onions in the broth will impart a refreshing and deeper flavor.
Step 5
Once the water is boiling vigorously, add the ramen noodles. Gently separate the noodles with chopsticks to prevent them from sticking. Cook according to the package directions, but aim to remove the noodles when they are about 80-90% cooked (slightly underdone). Drain them and rinse briefly under cold water before placing them in a serving bowl. This step ensures the noodles remain chewy and don’t become soggy when re-introduced to the hot broth.
Step 6
Reduce the heat slightly. Gently pour the beaten egg in a circular motion around the edges of the simmering broth in the pot. Resist the urge to stir! Allowing the egg to cook undisturbed will create delicate, fluffy ribbons of egg throughout the broth.
Step 7
Carefully pour the hot broth and cooked egg over the noodles in the serving bowl. Finally, generously top with the reserved fresh green onions. Your delicious, snack bar-style ramen is now ready to be enjoyed!
