Homemade Oat Milk: Rich & Nutty Vegan Delight
[Simple Vegan Recipe] Make Creamy Oat Milk from Rolled Oats
Craving a plant-based milk for your morning coffee, baking, or cooking? Make your own delicious oat milk at home! Using rolled oats creates a wonderfully creamy and nutty flavor. Add a touch of sweetness to suit your taste – it’s so satisfying!
Core Ingredients
- 1 cup Rolled Oats
- 3 cups Cold Water (approx. 720ml)
- 1/3 teaspoon Salt (approx. 1.5g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Combine 1 cup of rolled oats with 3 cups of cold water in a bowl. Let them soak for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight. This soaking step is crucial for softening the oats and reducing any raw flavor.
Step 2
Drain the soaking water completely using a fine-mesh sieve. Discard the water and keep only the softened oats.
Step 3
Transfer the soaked oats into your blender pitcher. Add 3 cups of fresh cold water.
Step 4
Add the 1/3 teaspoon of salt. If you prefer a sweeter milk, add 1.5 tablespoons of sugar or honey now. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, typically for 1-2 minutes.
Step 5
Carefully strain the blended oat mixture. You can use a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a nut milk bag for the best results. Press gently to extract all the liquid.
Step 6
Pour your freshly made oat milk into a clean, sterilized glass bottle or jar. Store in the refrigerator and enjoy within 3-5 days. Remember to shake well before each use!
