Blueberry Compote Ingredients
  • 500g fresh blueberries
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 drop lemon juice

Blueberry Milk (1 serving)
  • 2 Tbsp prepared blueberry compote
  • 250ml milk

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Thoroughly wash 500g of blueberries and place them in a bowl. Add 200g of granulated sugar and gently toss to coat. Let this mixture sit for about 30 minutes. During this time, the blueberries will release their natural juices, forming a sweet syrup.

Step 2

Once the sugar begins to dissolve and you see liquid forming, transfer the mixture to a saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Bring the juices to a gentle boil.

Step 3

As soon as the syrup starts to boil, add 1 drop of fresh lemon juice. The lemon juice will enhance the bright, tart notes of the blueberries and help maintain their vibrant color. Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer for another 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the compote to thicken slightly.

Step 4

Turn off the heat when the blueberries have softened and the mixture has a jam-like consistency, with some whole berries still visible. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become too stiff. Allow the compote to cool completely before using.

Step 5

Place 2 tablespoons of the cooled blueberry compote into a glass. Pour 250ml of cold milk over the compote. Stir well to combine the compote with the milk. This creates a healthy ‘Blueberry Milk’ with the natural flavor and sweetness of blueberries, without any artificial sweeteners. Adjust the amount of compote to your preferred level of sweetness.
