Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 100g of somyeon, which is one serving. Since somyeon are long noodles, it’s convenient to cut them in half before placing them in the rice cooker. Place the cut somyeon into the inner pot of your rice cooker.
Step 2
Now, pour 500ml of water into the rice cooker. Use the ‘Reheat’ function and set it to cook for 9 minutes. (Depending on your rice cooker model, you can also select a suitable function like ‘Cook’ or ‘Steam’. The noodles will cook during this step.)
Step 3
After 9 minutes, you’ll see that the noodles have cooked nicely in the rice cooker.
Step 4
Drain the cooked noodles using a colander. Rinsing the noodles under cold running water prevents them from becoming mushy or sticking together, resulting in a chewier texture. Thoroughly drain the water from the rinsed noodles.
Step 5
Now it’s time to make the fried egg. Lightly coat the bottom of the cleaned rice cooker inner pot with 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. This will prevent the egg from sticking and ensure a beautiful fry.
Step 6
Crack 2 eggs into a bowl. Add a pinch of salt to break down the egg whites and whisk well. Carefully pour the beaten eggs into the rice cooker. Set the rice cooker’s ‘Reheat’ function for 6 minutes to cook the eggs.
Step 7
Before stir-frying the noodles, let’s mix the sauce ingredients. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the cooked noodles to this bowl and pour the prepared sauce over them. Gently toss and mix the noodles with the sauce until evenly coated. Ensure the noodles absorb the flavors well.
Step 8
Cooking the egg for 6 minutes in the rice cooker will result in a delicious sunny-side-up fried egg with a slightly runny yolk. Carefully remove the fried egg from the rice cooker.
Step 9
Finally, arrange the sauced noodles attractively in a serving bowl. Top with the warm fried egg you just made. Sprinkle with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and crumbled seaweed to your liking. Your delicious soy sauce egg noodles are ready! Enjoy mixing and eating.
