Ingredients for Ham Cheese Cutlets
  • 8 slices Mukuchon sliced ham
  • 1/2 onion
  • 4 slices processed cheese
  • For the coating: 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying (as needed)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, lightly season the Mukuchon sliced ham with black pepper for an enhanced flavor. (This step can be skipped if preferred.) Carefully peel off the plastic packaging from the processed cheese slices.

Step 2

Next, prepare the onion by thinly slicing it into rings, maintaining its shape to add sweetness and texture. Lightly sauté the sliced onions in a pan with a small amount of vegetable oil until they become translucent. This process brings out the onion’s natural sweetness, enriching the flavor of the cutlets.

Step 3

Now, let’s prepare the coating. To prevent clumping and ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well, lightly moisten the breadcrumbs by spraying them with water. (You can also cover them with a damp cloth.) In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them thoroughly with a fork to create a smooth egg wash.

Step 4

It’s time to assemble the ham cheese cutlets! Start by placing one slice of ham on a flat surface. Layer a slice of cheese on top, followed by a portion of the sautéed onions. Finish by topping with another slice of ham, creating a sandwich-like structure. Assemble them in the order of ham-cheese-onion-ham. Now, coat each assembled cutlet thoroughly by dredging it first in flour, then dipping it in the beaten egg, and finally pressing it into the breadcrumbs. Carefully place the coated cutlets into vegetable oil preheated to 170°C (340°F). Fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Once cooked, cut the delicious cutlets into triangles and serve immediately!
