Ingredients (Makes 2 Rolls)
  • 2 sheets of dried seaweed (gim/nori)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 8 perilla leaves (kkaennip)
  • 6 strips of pickled burdock root (for gimbap)
  • 4 strips of pickled radish (danmuji, for gimbap)
  • 2 imitation crab sticks
  • Dried shredded squid (seasoned)
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, whisk the 6 eggs thoroughly. Add the 1/2 teaspoon of salt and mix well. Then, heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a frying pan and thinly spread the egg mixture to cook until golden brown on both sides. Cooking the egg crepes over low heat will prevent burning and result in a beautiful finish.

Step 2

Once the egg crepes are cooked, let them cool slightly. Then, slice them thinly into strips suitable for gimbap. Wash the perilla leaves under running water, remove the stems, and cut them into appropriate sizes to fit the gimbap. Tear or slice the imitation crab sticks and prepare the dried shredded squid as desired.

Step 3

Now it’s time to roll the gimbap! Place the seaweed sheet with the rough side facing up. Spread the thinly sliced egg over more than two-thirds of the seaweed. Arrange the prepared perilla leaves, burdock root, pickled radish, imitation crab sticks, and shredded squid neatly on top. Roll the gimbap tightly. Finally, brush the outside of the gimbap with a mixture of the remaining 3 tablespoons of cooking oil and 2 tablespoons of sesame oil for a glossy and delicious keto gimbap!
