Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, whisk together 100ml of lukewarm water and 1 room temperature egg until well combined. Add 500g of donut mix powder and mix with a spatula or your hands until a cohesive dough forms. Be careful not to overmix. The dough should come together smoothly.
Step 2
Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and divide it into 8-10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball. If the dough feels too sticky, you can lightly dust your hands with a little extra donut mix powder.
Step 3
Take one dough ball and flatten it thinly with your palm. Place a portion of the red bean paste (about 300g total) in the center. Carefully gather the edges of the dough to enclose the filling, and re-shape it into a round bun. Gently place the formed buns into preheated oil at 150-160°C (300-320°F). Fry until golden brown and puffed up, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
Step 4
Once golden brown, remove the honey bread from the oil and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Let them cool slightly. While still warm, brush the tops generously with oligosaccharide for a shiny glaze, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. Your delicious, chewy honey bread is now ready to enjoy!
