Crispy & Sweet! Kid-Friendly Fried Dumpling Bites Recipe
Our Child Devoured These Fried Dumpling Bites in a Flash! ♡
My child raved about the fried dumplings served at daycare, so I decided to make them at home. The result? They were such a hit that my child ate five pieces on their own and immediately asked for more! This recipe perfectly caters to a child’s palate. The dumplings are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, coated with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce that’s irresistible to both kids and adults. Made with simple ingredients, these fried dumpling bites are a fantastic snack or side dish. Let’s get cooking!
Main Ingredients
- 10 frozen dumplings
Sweet & Spicy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 0.3 Tbsp gochujang (a tiny amount, adjust to your child’s preference)
- A pinch of minced garlic (add more if you love garlic flavor)
- 2 Tbsp honey (can substitute with sugar, adjust sweetness)
- 5 Tbsp cooking oil (for frying)
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 0.3 Tbsp gochujang (a tiny amount, adjust to your child’s preference)
- A pinch of minced garlic (add more if you love garlic flavor)
- 2 Tbsp honey (can substitute with sugar, adjust sweetness)
- 5 Tbsp cooking oil (for frying)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your frozen dumplings. Heat 5 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the frozen dumplings and fry them until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. It’s important to fry them slowly, turning them occasionally to ensure they cook evenly without burning.
Step 2
While the dumplings are frying, let’s make the sweet and spicy sauce. In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of ketchup, 0.3 tablespoons of gochujang (you can use a very small amount or omit it for a milder taste suitable for children), a pinch of minced garlic, and 2 tablespoons of honey. Whisk everything together until well combined and smooth. You can also use sugar instead of honey, adjusting the sweetness to your liking.
Step 3
Once the dumplings are perfectly crispy, carefully drain excess oil from the pan, leaving just a little bit behind (or wipe it out with a paper towel). Pour the prepared sauce over the fried dumplings. Stir-fry gently over very low heat, using the residual heat, for about a minute, just until the sauce coats the dumplings evenly. This quick stir-fry ensures the garlic is cooked and the sauce is slightly caramelized without burning.
Step 4
Your delicious fried dumpling bites are ready! Transfer them to a serving plate and enjoy immediately. They are best served warm, offering a delightful combination of crispiness, tenderness, sweetness, and a hint of spice. Perfect for a delightful snack or a fun side dish!
