Main Ingredients
  • 6 potatoes
  • 1 cup frying mix (paper cup)
  • Generous amount of cooking oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Parmesan cheese powder, to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Peel the thoroughly washed potatoes. Insert a skewer or wooden chopstick lengthwise into each potato, securing it firmly. Make sure the skewer goes all the way to the end for good stability.

Step 2

Using a knife or mandoline slicer, carefully cut the potato from top to bottom while rotating it, creating a spiral shape. The key is to slice thinly and consistently in a spiral pattern. Be careful not to let the sliced potato detach from the skewer.

Step 3

Place the spiral-cut potatoes in cold water for about 5 minutes to remove excess starch. This prevents the potato slices from sticking together during frying and ensures they become extra crispy. Drain the potatoes completely before proceeding.

Step 4

Once the potatoes are drained, evenly coat them with the frying mix. Aim for a thin coating on all the potato surfaces rather than a thick batter. Gently press the mix onto the potato with your hands to help it adhere.

Step 5

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a deep pan or pot to about 170°C (340°F). Carefully add the coated potatoes to the hot oil. Fry them, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat to prevent burning.

Step 6

Remove the fried spiral potatoes from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess grease. While still warm, sprinkle with salt and pepper. For an extra layer of flavor, generously dust with Parmesan cheese powder. Your delicious spiral potatoes are ready to enjoy!
