Ingredients
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • Parmesan cheese, to taste
  • Parsley flakes, for garnish

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the potatoes thoroughly. Now, it’s time to slice them into an accordion shape. To make this easier and prevent them from cutting all the way through, try this trick: place two wooden chopsticks on either side of the potato. The chopsticks will act as a guide, stopping your knife and ensuring beautifully fanned slices. Aim for slices about 0.5 cm thick.

Step 2

Measure out about 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for approximately 30 seconds until it’s melted and smooth. This melted butter will add richness and help make the potato surfaces wonderfully crispy.

Step 3

Now, using a brush or a spoon, carefully spread the melted butter in between each slice of the potatoes, getting into all those accordion folds. Pro tip: For an extra layer of flavor and indulgence, you can tuck thin slices of cheese or finely chopped bacon into the cuts before baking!

Step 4

Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. Arrange the buttered accordion potatoes on the paper. Place the basket in your air fryer, preheated to 180°C (350°F), and cook for about 20 minutes. For even cooking, consider flipping the potatoes halfway through.

Step 5

After 20 minutes, check the potatoes. If they’re not as golden and crispy as you’d like, or if the inside needs a little more cooking, return them to the air fryer at the same 180°C (350°F) for an additional 5 minutes. Cooking times can vary slightly depending on the size of your potatoes and your specific air fryer model, so keep an eye on them.

Step 6

Once they’re perfectly cooked, remove the accordion potatoes from the air fryer. Sprinkle generously with grated Parmesan cheese and a pinch of parsley flakes for a beautiful finish. These are absolutely delicious served warm, especially with a side of ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy your delightful homemade accordion potatoes!
