Main Ingredients
  • 150g well-fermented kimchi (sour kimchi recommended!)
  • A small bunch of green onions (for color and aroma)
  • 150g crispy bulgogi (pre-marinated and cooked)
  • 3 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds (for added nuttiness)
  • 1.5 cups cooked rice (warm)

Fried Rice Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic (for aromatic depth)
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce (key to the sweet and savory profile!)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil (for a fragrant finish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Finely chop or thinly julienne the kimchi into bite-sized pieces. Using well-fermented, sour kimchi will yield a richer flavor.

Step 2

Prepare the crispy bulgogi. You can use pre-cooked crispy bulgogi. (Reference recipe: @7012951)

Step 3

Finely chop the green onions. These will be used as a garnish to add color and freshness.

Step 4

Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic. This step is crucial for building flavor.

Step 5

Once the garlic is aromatic, add the chopped kimchi to the pan. Stir-fry the kimchi until it softens and develops a slightly sweet aroma. Cooking it thoroughly helps to mellow out its tartness.

Step 6

When the kimchi is nicely sautéed, add the prepared crispy bulgogi to the pan. Stir-fry everything together, allowing the bulgogi’s marinade to meld with the kimchi.

Step 7

Add the warm rice (1.5 cups) and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce to the pan with the kimchi and bulgogi. Gently press and stir the rice with a spatula to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed and the rice grains are well-coated with the flavorful mixture.

Step 8

Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds. Gently mix everything together. The nutty aroma of sesame oil will enhance the overall deliciousness of the fried rice.

Step 9

Transfer the crispy bulgogi kimchi fried rice to a serving plate. Garnish with the chopped green onions for a final touch of color and freshness. Enjoy your delicious meal!
