Radish Salad Ingredients
  • 1.5 small radishes
  • 1 onion
  • 5-6 cloves garlic, minced

Delicious Seasoning
  • 0.5 Tbsp coarse salt
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 5 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 4-5 Tbsp anchovy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp vinegar
  • Sesame seeds, to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the radishes and garlic thoroughly and prepare them. Although not in the original recipe, you can also add thinly sliced onion if you like. 🙂

Step 2

Cut the radishes into julienne strips about 0.5cm thick (not too thin). Place the julienned radishes in a bowl, add 0.5 Tbsp coarse salt and 1 Tbsp sugar, and mix well. Let it sit for about 1 hour to salt the radishes. This process makes the radish crispy and draws out moisture, enhancing its flavor.

Step 3

After 1 hour, drain the salted radishes in a colander and let the water naturally drain out. Leave them for about 5 minutes to remove excess moisture. While the radish is draining, finely mince the garlic. If using onion, slice it thinly. 🙂

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the drained radish, minced garlic, thinly sliced onion (if using), 5 Tbsp gochugaru, 4-5 Tbsp anchovy sauce, and 3 Tbsp vinegar. Mix everything together gently with your hands until the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the radish.

Step 5

Taste the salad and adjust the seasoning as needed to your preference (e.g., sweetness, sourness, saltiness). Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds and give it a light toss to finish. Your delicious radish salad is ready!

Step 6

Transfer the finished radish salad to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. Its fresh, crisp taste will last for about a week, so it’s bound to be finished quickly!ㅎㅎ
