Cool and Simple Buckwheat Jelly Salad (Muksabal)
Making Buckwheat Jelly Salad (Muksabal), a Summer Delicacy Using a Perilla Oil Makguksu Recipe
For those who absolutely love buckwheat jelly, this recipe offers a way to enjoy it year-round. By adapting a perilla oil makguksu (buckwheat noodle) recipe, I created this buckwheat jelly salad, which is both simple and perfect as a summer dish. It’s a quick and satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 block Buckwheat Jelly (for 1 serving)
- Plenty of crumbled Seaweed (Gim)
- 1 cup chopped Scallions (or Green Onions)
Seasoning
- 3 Tbsp ground Sesame Seeds (or Perilla Seeds)
- 2 Tbsp Perilla Oil
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (or seasoned soy sauce)
- A pinch of Black Pepper
- 3 Tbsp ground Sesame Seeds (or Perilla Seeds)
- 2 Tbsp Perilla Oil
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (or seasoned soy sauce)
- A pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the buckwheat jelly. Use a jelly slicer or cut it into bite-sized rectangular pieces. Wash and finely chop the scallions or green onions.
Step 2
Get a deep bowl ready. Arrange the sliced buckwheat jelly in the bowl while it’s still cold. For an even cooler dish in summer, you can add a little cold broth.
Step 3
Generously top the buckwheat jelly with the finely chopped scallions (or green onions) you prepared. The fragrant onion aroma will enhance the flavor of the muksabal.
Step 4
Now it’s time for the seasoning. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of perilla oil evenly over the buckwheat jelly. The nutty aroma of the perilla oil will whet your appetite.
Step 5
Next, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce to season. You can adjust the amount of soy sauce according to your preference. If you prefer a deeper flavor, seasoned soy sauce (Mat Ganjang) works well too.
Step 6
Finally, add a generous amount of crumbled seaweed (Gim) and sprinkle with crushed sesame seeds for a nutty finish. The savory notes from the seaweed and the nuttiness of the sesame seeds make it even more delicious.
Step 7
This delicious buckwheat jelly salad (Muksabal) is ready in under 10 minutes without needing any cooking! It’s a simple yet satisfying meal.
