Main Ingredients
- 5-6 sheets of square fish cakes (approx. 200g)
- 1/4 block of Spam or luncheon meat (approx. 100g)
- 1 medium onion
- 1/4 carrot (small amount)
- 1/4 head of broccoli (small amount)
- 1/2 stalk of green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients. Cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces (about 1.5cm wide), and dice the ham into similar-sized cubes. Slice the onion thinly, and finely chop or thinly slice the carrot and broccoli. Mince the green onion.
Step 2
Heat a little cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced green onion and stir-fry until fragrant. Cooking the green onions until they release their sweet aroma creates ‘green onion oil,’ which significantly enhances the dish’s flavor.
Step 3
Once the green onion oil is fragrant, add the sliced onion and stir-fry until it becomes translucent. The sautéed onions add a natural sweetness to the dish.
Step 4
Now, add the pre-cut fish cakes and ham to the pan. Stir-fry until their colors change. Cook the fish cakes until tender and the ham until lightly browned.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce to the stir-fried ingredients. The rich umami flavor of the oyster sauce will deeply penetrate the fish cakes and ham, making them even more delicious.
Step 6
Add 3-4 tablespoons of corn syrup for sweetness. If children will be eating it, you can add a little more sweetness. Adjust the sweetness to your preference.
Step 7
Add the sliced carrots and finely chopped broccoli. Stir-fry until all ingredients are well combined. The carrots will add a crisp texture as they cook, and the broccoli will provide a beautiful color and added nutrients.
Step 8
If the mixture seems too dry or if the ingredients start to stick to the pan, add about 5-6 tablespoons of water. (This step is optional and can be skipped.) Adding water helps the sauce coat the ingredients evenly.
Step 9
Turn off the heat and drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. The nutty aroma of the sesame oil will further elevate the overall flavor of the dish.
Step 10
Finally, sprinkle generously with sesame seeds for garnish. The addition of nutty sesame seeds enhances both the taste and visual appeal.
