Main Ingredients
- 1kg baby potatoes
- 1 red chili pepper
- 1 green chili pepper
Seasoning Ingredients
- 100ml soy sauce
- 100ml corn syrup
- 5 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp perilla oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 100ml soy sauce
- 100ml corn syrup
- 5 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp perilla oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the baby potatoes thoroughly under running water, scrubbing away any dirt. Since we’ll be cooking them with the skin on, a detailed wash is essential.
Step 2
Place the clean baby potatoes in a bowl. Add 100ml of soy sauce and 5 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Mix well to coat the potatoes evenly. Let them marinate for about 1 hour. Marinating the potatoes allows them to release their own juices and absorb the seasoning more deeply, resulting in a chewy and delicious texture when simmered.
Step 3
After marinating for 1 hour, add 100ml of corn syrup to the potatoes and mix lightly. Adding corn syrup will give the simmered potatoes a glossy finish and extra sweetness.
Step 4
Now, set your Cuckoo White 3-Burner Induction to level 9 and heat until the seasoning begins to boil. Thanks to the Cuckoo Induction’s superior heat technology, which minimizes heat loss and maintains precise temperatures, the mixture will boil in about 1 minute, significantly reducing cooking time.
Step 5
Once the seasoning starts boiling, reduce the heat to level 2, cover with a lid, and set the timer for 45 minutes to begin simmering.
Step 6
During the 45-minute simmering process, occasionally open the lid and gently stir the potatoes, flipping them to ensure they are evenly coated with the sauce. This step ensures uniform cooking and thorough seasoning absorption, leading to a more flavorful dish.
Step 7
The Cuckoo White 3-Burner Induction features a notification system that alerts you 3 minutes before the cooking is complete. When you hear this alert, use a chopstick to pierce a baby potato and check if it’s tender. If it pierces easily, it is perfectly cooked.
Step 8
Once the potatoes are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened nicely, add 3 tablespoons of perilla oil and mix well. Adding perilla oil not only prevents the potatoes from sticking together as they cool but also adds a rich, nutty aroma.
Step 9
Finally, garnish with the sliced red and green chili peppers and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a beautifully finished dish! The powerful yet precise heating of the Cuckoo White 3-Burner Induction allowed for a perfectly cooked, waterless baby potato simmer without any sticking.
