Super Easy Homemade Pizza
Delightful Homemade Pizza: Easy to Make, Delicious to Enjoy!
I originally planned to make a spinach flatbread, but my daughter wanted pizza, so we compromised and decided to create a homemade pizza topped with fresh spinach and mozzarella cheese. This recipe offers a wonderful balance of sweet and savory flavors, making it a hit for the whole family.
Main Ingredients
- 2 Tortillas
- 70g Smoked Bacon
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 handful Fresh Spinach
- 1/2 Ripe Tomato
- 120g Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 medium Sweet Potato (Kabocha squash type recommended)
Sauces & Seasonings
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Pizza Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Pizza Sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the sweet potato and cut it into approximately 1.5cm cubes. Ensure the pieces are relatively uniform for even cooking.
Step 2
Place the cubed sweet potato in a microwave-safe bag and microwave for about 4 minutes, or until tender. Cooking time may vary depending on the size of the cubes and your microwave’s power.
Step 3
While still warm, mash the cooked sweet potato inside the bag until smooth. Mashing while warm prevents lumps and makes it easier to spread evenly on the pizza base.
Step 4
Finely dice or thinly slice the onion. Finely dicing will release more flavor and provide a better texture in the pizza.
Step 5
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent and fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Step 6
Add the smoked bacon to the pan and cook until crispy. Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease. Cut the bacon into three pieces each.
Step 7
Wash the ripe tomato thoroughly, remove the core, and cut it into 8 wedges.
Step 8
Rinse the spinach under cold water and thoroughly pat it dry. Excess moisture can make the pizza soggy, so ensure the leaves are well-drained after washing.
Step 9
Place one tortilla on a baking sheet. Using a spoon, spread 2 tablespoons of honey evenly over the tortilla, leaving a small border around the edge. The honey adds a delightful sweetness to the crust.
Step 10
Spread the mashed sweet potato evenly over the honey layer using a spoon or spatula. Aim for a consistent layer as it forms the base of the pizza toppings.
Step 11
Place the second tortilla on top of the sweet potato layer. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over this tortilla, again leaving a slight border. Avoid using too much sauce, as it can make the pizza overly salty.
Step 12
Arrange the sautéed onions evenly over the pizza sauce.
Step 13
Layer the cooked bacon pieces and the tomato wedges attractively over the onions.
Step 14
Evenly distribute the fresh spinach leaves over the other toppings. The spinach will wilt slightly and become tender as it bakes.
Step 15
Finally, generously sprinkle 120g of mozzarella cheese over the entire pizza. The melting cheese will bind all the ingredients together.
Step 16
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Alternatively, if you don’t have an oven, you can cook this in a covered pan over low heat until the cheese melts. Enjoy your quick and delicious homemade tortilla sweet potato pizza!
