Main Ingredients
- Shrimp (frozen or fresh) 200g
- Whole Garlic Cloves 1 handful (10-15 cloves)
- Dried Red Chilies (Peperoncini) 5-10 pieces (adjust to spice preference)
- Olive Oil generously (enough to submerge the shrimp)
- Black Pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your air fryer-safe dish or aluminum foil tray. Slice the whole garlic cloves thinly and add them to the dish. Crumble the dried red chilies (Peperoncini) by hand and add them as well. (If you prefer more heat, add more chilies; removing the seeds will reduce the spiciness.) Pour olive oil generously over the garlic and chilies, ensuring they are mostly submerged. Let this mixture sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to infuse into the oil – this step significantly enhances the taste.
Step 2
If using fresh shrimp, peel and devein them. For frozen shrimp, thaw them first. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and then thoroughly pat them dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture is crucial to prevent oil splattering and ensure the shrimp cook properly.
Step 3
Add the dried shrimp to the dish with the infused olive oil, garlic, and chilies. Gently toss everything together to ensure the shrimp are well coated. Season with a pinch of black pepper for an extra layer of aroma and flavor.
Step 4
Place the prepared dish into your air fryer. Set the temperature to 200°C (400°F) and cook for 10 minutes. For even cooking, you can carefully remove the dish halfway through to give the shrimp and other ingredients a gentle stir. Serve immediately with slices of warm baguette. Spooning the flavorful olive oil and topping the bread with the shrimp and garlic is an absolute delight! Don’t forget to dip the crusty bread into the delicious infused oil.
