Main Ingredients
- 150g snow peas (about a handful)
- 5 stalks green onions (small size)
- 1 serving instant ramen noodles
- 1 packet Haidilao Mala Sauce
- Tteokbokki Meal Kit (2 servings rice cakes, 1 serving sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before we begin cooking, let’s get our ingredients ready! First, wash and roughly chop the green onions. Prepare about 150g of snow peas; feel free to substitute with other leftover vegetables you have in your fridge! (I used snow peas today.) Rinse the 2 servings of rice cakes from the tteokbokki kit under running water. Have the 1 serving of tteokbokki sauce, 1 packet of Haidilao Mala Sauce, and 1 serving of ramen noodles ready. Once you have all the ingredients prepared, you can consider the most challenging part of the cooking done! Isn’t it incredibly simple?
Step 2
Lightly grease a pan with oil and add the Haidilao Mala Sauce over low heat to release its aroma. Once the mala sauce is fragrant, add the chopped green onions and snow peas. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened. This step helps to enhance the flavor of the vegetables.
Step 3
Now, add the rinsed rice cakes and the 1 serving of tteokbokki sauce from the meal kit to the pan. Turn the heat up to medium and stir-fry until the rice cakes and sauce are well combined. Once the sauce has coated the rice cakes, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes. Cook until the rice cakes are tender and the sauce has thickened. You can adjust the cooking time based on how chewy you like your rice cakes.
Step 4
While the tteokbokki is simmering, boil the ramen noodles in a separate pot until they are about half-cooked to prevent them from becoming too mushy. Drain the noodles well. Add the drained ramen noodles to the tteokbokki pot and stir-fry gently for about 1 minute to let them absorb some of the sauce.
Step 5
Voila! Your delicious Mala Tteokbokki is ready! It’s incredibly easy to make, and the presentation is fantastic, isn’t it? The numbing and spicy flavor is truly exceptional. If you’re a fan of mala, you absolutely must try this recipe. You’re guaranteed to experience an unforgettable taste!
