Ingredients
  • 150g shelled walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp honey

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 150g of shelled walnuts. To enhance their flavor, spread the walnuts thinly on an air fryer rack. Place them in a preheated air fryer set to 160°C (320°F) and toast for 10 minutes. This process will bring out their natural nutty aroma.

Step 2

Ah, the kitchen is filled with a wonderful nutty scent as they toast! Once toasted, let the walnuts cool down slightly. It’s best to avoid grinding them while they’re piping hot, as this can put a strain on your blender. However, if they cool down too much, the jam might not achieve the right texture, so aim for a warm state.

Step 3

Now, get your blender ready! Add all the slightly cooled walnuts into the blender jar. Even if you don’t have a large quantity of walnuts, it’s perfectly fine; you can still make a delicious jam.

Step 4

Close the blender lid and start by simply grinding the walnuts alone. Initially, you’ll see walnut pieces, but as you continue blending, they will gradually turn into a fine powder.

Step 5

Once the walnuts have become a fine powder, stop the blender. Use a spatula or the back of a knife to scrape down the sides of the blender jar and gather the powder at the bottom. Press down firmly, almost like kneading dough, to form a cohesive mass. This step helps in achieving a smoother jam texture later. Repeating this a few times is beneficial.

Step 6

Next, it’s time to add ingredients that will enhance the flavor balance. Add the 1/2 teaspoon of salt you’ve prepared. Salt plays a crucial role in amplifying the nutty flavor of the walnuts.

Step 7

Now, add 1 tablespoon of honey for sweetness. Close the blender lid again and repeat the process of ‘blending’ and ‘pressing down’ until you reach your desired jam consistency. It might feel a bit stiff at first, but keep blending and pressing, and you’ll achieve a smooth and delicious walnut jam. If it seems too thick, you can add a tiny bit of water or milk.

Step 8

Your homemade walnut jam, made using leftover walnuts, is ready! Although I only got about two small jars, the intense nuttiness of this homemade jam is truly unbeatable. You can taste a depth of flavor that’s incomparable to store-bought versions.

Step 9

I spread this walnut jam generously on freshly toasted bread, and it was absolutely delicious! It’s also a great idea to enjoy it with a glass of milk. Milk helps to supplement the protein and calcium that might be lacking in walnuts, making it a more balanced snack. Enjoy your creation!
