Simple and Refreshing Scallion Salad (Pah Muchim)

Super Easy Scallion Salad ~~~

This is a side dish my family has enjoyed since childhood ^^ It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and is also delicious mixed into rice. A nostalgic scallion salad that’s tasty and simple! ~~~~~☆ I simply grilled some king oyster mushrooms to go along with it.

Ingredients
  • 100g green onions (scallions), thin variety

Seasoning (15ml = 1 Tbsp)
  • 30ml soy sauce (2 Tbsp)
  • 2.5ml minced garlic (1/2 tsp)
  • 7.5ml sugar (1.5 tsp)
  • 7.5ml gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, 1.5 tsp)
  • 15ml vinegar (1 Tbsp)
  • 15ml sesame oil (1 Tbsp)
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the green onions thoroughly under running water and gently pat them dry with a kitchen towel or shake off excess water. Trim off any roots and tough green tops, then cut the green onions into approximately 4cm (about 1.5 inch) lengths.

Step 2

Place the cut green onions into a mixing bowl. Add all the seasoning ingredients: soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, gochugaru, vinegar, and sesame oil. Gently toss everything together to ensure the scallions are evenly coated with the dressing.

Step 3

Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the salad for extra flavor and aroma. Your delicious and refreshing scallion salad is now ready to serve!

Step 4

This scallion salad is absolutely delightful mixed into a spoonful of freshly cooked warm rice – it’s like nectar! In the photo above, I paired it with a grilled king oyster mushroom, which was also a fantastic combination.
