Main Ingredients
  • 600g Pork Shoulder (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 stalk Green Onion (thinly sliced)

Marinade
  • 6 Tbsp Soy Sauce (use a savory brand like ‘Beomil Bul’ or regular soy sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • A pinch of Sesame Seeds (for garnish and nutty flavor)
  • 1 can Pear Juice Drink (approx. 250ml, tenderizes the meat and adds sweetness)
  • 3 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels to remove excess blood. In a bowl, combine the pork with pear juice drink, sugar, vinegar, and minced garlic. Mix well with your hands, ensuring the meat is evenly coated. Add the thinly sliced green onions and mix again.

Step 2

Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil into the marinated pork. Mix thoroughly one more time. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. For an even deeper flavor, marinate for 2-3 hours or even overnight.

Step 3

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the marinated pork to the pan and stir-fry until it’s nicely browned on all sides. Cooking over medium heat prevents burning and helps develop the pork’s natural flavor. Cook until the exterior is golden brown.

Step 4

Pour any remaining marinade over the browned pork. Increase the heat to high and continue to stir-fry until the liquid has evaporated and the pork becomes slightly crispy. This step is crucial for achieving that desirable smoky flavor. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving for an extra touch of aroma and texture.
