Main Ingredients
- 1 pack Convenience store dumplings (frozen)
- 1 pack Sari Gomtang instant noodles
- 1 handful Rice cake for soup (tteokguk tteok, approx. 100g)
- 5cm Green onion
- 1 Egg
- Pinch of dried seaweed flakes (Gim)
- 4 cups Water (approx. 800ml)
- Little cooking oil (for cooking egg crépes)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the green onion and then thinly slice it into approximately 0.5cm pieces. Since it’s for garnish, aim for aesthetically pleasing slices.
Step 2
Separate the egg yolk and white into two separate bowls. Lightly oil a non-stick frying pan and heat over low heat. Pour in the egg white and cook until set, then do the same for the yolk, creating thin egg crépes. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.
Step 3
Once the egg crépes have cooled slightly, thinly julienne them. Slice them evenly so they look beautiful when placed on top of the soup.
Step 4
In a large pot, add 4 cups (approximately 800ml) of water and bring it to a boil over high heat.
Step 5
Once the water is boiling, add the Sari Gomtang soup powder packet and any soup powder that might be included with the rice cakes. Stir well to dissolve. The Sari Gomtang powder will provide a rich and savory broth.
Step 6
When the broth is bubbling, add the rice cakes for soup, the Sari Gomtang noodles, and the convenience store dumplings. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the rice cakes are tender and the dumplings are fully cooked. It’s important not to overcook the noodles, so keep an eye on the time.
Step 7
Ladle the hot Tteok Mandu Guk into individual serving bowls. Garnish generously with the julienned egg crépes, sliced green onions, and a sprinkle of dried seaweed flakes. Enjoy your flavorful Sari Gomtang Tteok Mandu Guk immediately while it’s piping hot!
