It’s a surprisingly harmonious blend that elevates the classic black bean noodles into something truly special. Easy to make and wonderfully satisfying, this unique dish is perfect for when you crave something different yet comforting.
Ingredients
- 2 servings Jjajangmyeon noodles (instant ramen)
- 600ml water
- 1 Tbsp peanut butter
- 1 stalk green onion
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gather and prepare all your ingredients. Finely chop the green onion (about 1 stalk) and set it aside for later use. Having everything ready makes the cooking process smooth and enjoyable.
Step 2
In a pot, bring 600ml of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the two servings of jjajangmyeon noodles and cook for approximately 4 minutes, or until al dente. Once the noodles are cooked, carefully drain most of the water, leaving only about 3 to 4 tablespoons of the starchy cooking water behind. This reserved water will help create a luscious sauce.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to low. Add the two jjajang seasoning packets that came with the noodles. Stir well to combine the powder with the noodles and the reserved water, ensuring there are no clumps.
Step 4
Now, add 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) for a gentle kick of heat. You can adjust this amount to your personal preference for spiciness.
Step 5
Here comes the star ingredient! Stir in 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. As it melts, it will lend a wonderful creaminess and depth of flavor to the sauce. Add the chopped green onions at this stage as well.
Step 6
Mix everything together thoroughly. Ensure the peanut butter is well incorporated into the sauce and that all ingredients are evenly distributed. Keep stirring gently over low heat until the sauce is smooth and coats the noodles beautifully.
Step 7
Once the sauce has thickened slightly and all the flavors have melded together, turn off the heat. Serve your delicious Peanut Butter Jjajangmyeon immediately in a bowl. Enjoy this unique and flavorful noodle dish!
